THE OPPORTUNITY

The Facilities Systems Engineer will bring experience in providing the safe and efficient operation of power systems within a facility or hospitality setting.  You have knowledge in the operation, upkeep and maintenance of HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, electrical systems, and emergency power generators.  You possess strong technical expertise, are familiar with health and safety regulations and can resolve issues effectively. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility systems including but not limited to water treatment, boilers, refrigeration, humidifiers, HRV’s, hydronic solar system, laundry & kitchen equipment and electrical distribution infrastructure.

 

  • Organize the standardized processes for prioritization, management and testing of mechanical and electrical maintenance work including the management of critical maintenance documents, spare parts inventory, and all records and drawings.

 

  • Coordinate daily work activities for maintenance team members in conjunction with the Senior Maintenance Technician Lead.

 

  • Monitor, inspect and troubleshoot the Inn’s Building Management Software & Facilities Systems.
  • Supervise outside contractors and service personnel utilized in necessary repairs.
  • Assist in the creation of engagement and continuous learning among the Maintenance Team by developing and mentoring staff and working toward the operation’s goals and objectives.
  • Ensure predictive asset management process are in place and followed by all Maintenance Team Members.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for using and maintaining system equipment and machinery as required.
  • Foster strong ethic of good housekeeping, providing a clean working environment amongst the maintenance team and contractors.
  • Follow and enforce all applicable safety rules and procedures.
  • Other Duties as required

 


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in a power engineering or similar roles, preferably in a hospitality setting
  • 2nd Class Power Engineering accreditation or equivalent from any Canadian Province (equivalent combination of education and experience maybe considered)
  • Accreditations in other trades are considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, boilers, chillers, electrical and emergency power systems.
  • Ability to assess situations, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions under pressure.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, management and vendors.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required but the business
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
