We are now looking for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. Working closely with our Executive Head Chef, you will play an important role in the daily operation of the kitchen, supporting the team and ensuring consistently high standards across our culinary offering.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being part of daily service while also taking responsibility, leading by example and contributing to the continued development of our kitchen and culinary concepts.
Our cuisine is rooted in Nordic traditions, highlighting the very best local ingredients. We collaborate closely with regional farmers and producers, and many of our ingredients are foraged from the surrounding nature.
We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as private dining, events and culinary experiences across several unique settings – including our main restaurant, lavvo and boathouse.
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a professional chef qualification or has equivalent relevant experience
- Has experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior kitchen role
- Has experience from fine dining, high-end restaurants or quality-driven à la carte kitchens
- Has a strong interest in Nordic cuisine, seasonal ingredients and local produce
- Is passionate about craftsmanship, quality and attention to detail
- Has strong leadership skills and enjoys motivating and developing others
- Is structured, proactive and solution-oriented
- Thrives in a high-end kitchen with ambitious quality standards
- Works independently while also being a strong team player
- Has excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Speaks and writes English fluently (Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is an advantage)
- Holds a valid driver's licence (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Take an active role in daily kitchen operations and service
- Support the Executive Head Chef in leading and developing the kitchen team
- Act as deputy to the Executive Head Chef when required
- Ensure consistently high standards of quality, presentation and guest experience
- Contribute to menu planning, seasonal development and new culinary concepts
- Support, guide and mentor chefs and apprentices
- Assist with ordering, stock control and inventory management
- Ensure high standards of food safety and HACCP compliance
- Contribute to private dining experiences, special events and culinary concepts across Storfjord Hotel and 62°NORD
- Foster a positive, professional and inspiring kitchen environment
