Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, passionate Sommelier who will also work as a Server. This hybrid role is ideal for a wine enthusiast who loves guest interaction, enjoys sharing knowledge, and thrives in a service-driven environment. The Sommelier will curate wine pairings, assist guests in selecting wines, manage wine inventory, and provide full-service dining — earning both a competitive hourly wage and tips.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recommend and sell wine selections, pairing thoughtfully with our seasonal dishes. Including but not limited to wines by the glass.
- Guide guests through our wine list, offering tasting notes, food pairing advice, and upselling when appropriate.
- Serve tables efficiently, providing an elevated dining experience from start to finish.
- Maintain knowledge of the food menu, daily specials, and beverage offerings.
- Assist with managing and organizing the wine cellar and inventory.
- Conduct wine training for staff to enhance overall service knowledge.
- Ensure wine service standards are maintained, including proper storage, decanting, and glassware presentation.
- Collaborate with management on seasonal wine list updates.
- Uphold all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience as a Sommelier and/or Server in a high-end restaurant or bistro.
- Certified Sommelier (Level 1 or higher) from an accredited organization preferred.
- Deep knowledge and passion for wine, wine service, and food pairings.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and stay composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong team player with a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
